Considering enrollment, when does the school year begin at Newport Children's School?

We operate year-round, with our program commencing on July 1st.

While the majority of new students start in July, we offer rolling enrollment if you’re newly transitioning to the area or as needed.

What do families like about the Newport Children’s School campus?

At what age can children enroll at Newport Children's School?

We welcome students aged one year and above.

Our program supports students up to fifth grade. To discuss the best program for your child, please contact our team.

Are meals included in the tuition?

Yes, with nutritious foods that kids love! Full-day students receive lunch and three snacks, while part-time students are provided with lunch and one snack. We are considerate of allergies and serve primarily organic fruits & vegetables. Learn about our menu and commitment to nutrition during your school visit.

What are the student/teacher ratios at Newport Children's School?

Our teacher to child ratio for our one year olds is 1:6. For our two year olds the ratio is 1:7. Preschool ratio is 1:10, while Kindergarten has a 1:15 ratio. We provide excellent care with friendly teachers, quality supplies, a first-rate facility, and professional support and supervision. How does the school optimize its staff turnover rate?

Our school’s most important assets are the teachers who work with your children. We work very hard to keep them happy. Our wages, benefits and work environment are at the top of the education industry. We treat our teachers as professionals and our turnover is low. We have teachers and administrators who have worked with us for decades. You are encouraged to meet our long-tenured team during your school tour and see the difference their experience makes.

What do parents with children in public elementary schools like about the Before/After school program?

Before/After provides a snack, and gives children a chance to play and receive help with homework if needed. It's fun and relaxing. Our program can provide a supportive and engaging extension to your child's school day.

Which elementary schools do the children in the Before/After program attend?

The schools change every year depending on demand.

Schools we serve with after-school care are Somerset Elementary, Hazelwood Elementary and Newport Heights Elementary (after school only). To inquire about travel arrangements for your child, please reach out to our program coordinator at (425)641-0824.

Do I need an appointment to visit my child at the school?

We observe an open door policy for you to visit your student whenever convenient. Visitors may schedule an appointment with our directors to tour our school.

Which closures are observed by Newport Children’s School?

To serve families and ensure staff development, we are closed on:

  • New Year’s Day
  • Martin Luther King Day
  • President's Day
  • Memorial Day
  • Independence Day
  • Labor Day
  • Thanksgiving Day
  • Friday after Thanksgiving
  • Christmas

We also have 1-2 teacher training days per year for which we provide at least a month's notice.

What is the Discipline Policy of Newport Children’s School?

We believe in fostering a positive environment where children are supported to learn, self-regulate, and contribute with respectful interactions. What is the schedule during inclement weather?

We work hard to stay open, but also keep everyone safe. If we should have to close, we first notify the TV news stations, then text and email parents. In the case of an emergency during the school day (i.e. power outages, etc…) we will text parents directly. Ensure your contact information is current so we can keep you fully informed.
